Simply put, once you turn on WhatsApp's lock feature, your personal chats are moved to a separate Locked Chats folder. After that, no one else can unlock those chats without your fingerprint or password. Most importantly, you can completely hide the Locked Chats folder with a secret code. No one else can see notifications from locked chats, as notifications are also completely secure.
What is the process for turning on the WhatsApp Chat Lock feature?
- Open WhatsApp on your phone and select the chat you want to lock.
- As soon as you select a chat, you'll see three dots with Mute and PIN on the top right.
- Clicking on these three dots will show you the Lock Chat option.
- Clicking on Lock Chat will ask you for permission.
- After that, click Continue.
- Clicking Continue will ask you to set a fingerprint or password.
- Once you set a password or fingerprint, your chat will be locked.
- After this, when you scroll down your chat list, you'll see the Locked Chats option, just like you do with Archived chats.
Can you hide the Locked Chats folder?
If you don't want Locked Chats to appear in your chat list, follow this process, and they will be hidden.
To do this, unlock the Locked Chats folder. Then, go to the Chat Settings at the top.
As soon as you enter the Chat Settings, you'll see the Hide Chat option. Turn it on.
You'll then be given the option to enter a secret code.
Entering the secret code will hide the Locked Chats folder from your chat list.
After this, enter the secret code in the search bar and search for it. You'll find your Locked Chats folder.
