The latest instalment for the Maddock Horror Cinematic Universe is finally here withThamma. Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s vampire horror film follows what Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao started with the Stree films. What has kick-started the MCU of Bollywood, or better yet, the MHCU, is also bringing back our love for the supernatural.
As the franchise welcomes the two new actors, the film is surely set to make huge numbers at the box office. Not only is it a highly anticipated movie, but it has also chosen the perfect release schedule - Diwali. That begs the question, how much was the cast of the film paid?

Described as a “bloody love story,” Thamma embraces exactly what made many teenage girls fall in love with vampire romances decades ago. Bringing back the age of The Vampire Diaries and The Twilight Saga feels almost nostalgic to embrace.
As per a DNA report, Ayushmann Khurrana, who played Alok Goyal, was paid around ₹8-10 crore for the film, while Rashmika Mandanna, who plays Tadaka, was paid ₹5-7 crore for her role.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui reportedly earned ₹3-4 crore for playing the main villain of the film, and both Paresh Rawal and Malaika Arora were paid ₹2 crore each. Rawal plays the role of Alok’s father and Arora has a special appearance for the song ‘Poison Baby.’
Unlike the previous films in the MHCU, Thamma is devoid of major comedy. The film puts its focus on romance and thus lets a tale soaked in blood seep through. It would also not dive too deep into being a horror film. Instead, it would take the fictional and fantasy elements that come with being a vampire and build them into it.

Some could say that vampire romances are so 2010. What Thamma does is remind you of something that you used to love and make you fall for it once again. It’s that confirmation that it clearly wasn’t a phase, and all those supernatural romance books and shows that you consumed in the past are finally coming to good use.
Releasing with a big Diwali bang, the Aditya Sarpotdar-directed film brings a whole new light as to what we’ve seen vampires as. To put the cherry on top, he’s making vampires mainstream in India with the perfect Bollywood twist.
Now, if you want to watch something vampire-related but also don’t want to steer clear from the desi vibes, Thamma will always be there as the movie waiting to be watched.
