New Delhi [India], October 25 (ANI): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday condoled the demise of veteran actor Satish Shah, who passed away at the age of 74.
In a post on X, Singh emphasised that Satish Shah brought warmth, laughter and joy to millions through his remarkable performances in cinema and television.
"Deeply pained by the demise of veteran actor Shri Satish Shah ji. Known for his exceptional comic timing and natural screen presence, he brought warmth, laughter and joy to millions through his remarkable performances in cinema and television. His contribution to Indian entertainment will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and admirers. Om Shanti," Rajnath Singh posted on X.
According to the medical certification of cause of death issued by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Satish Shah passed away due to Septic Shock at the age of 74 today.
Tributes poured in from the film fraternity and admirers of Satish Shah.
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mr Satish Shah, celebrated actor, revered mentor, and distinguished FTII alumnus, who also served as a member of FTII's Governing Council and FTII Society. His artistry transcended generations, and his continued engagement with FTII reflected his commitment to nurturing the craft of cinema," FTII said in a post on X.
He gave several hit performances in movies and shows. 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro', 'Main Hoon Na' and 'Mujhse Shaadi Karoge' were among the movies in which his role was widely admired.
Born on June 25, 1951, Satish Shah joined the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), where he trained as an actor. Shah started his acting career in the 70s. After playing minor roles in films, he got a major breakthrough with the 1983 film, 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro'.
