Vodafone Idea on Thursday announced its chief operating officer Abhijit Kishore has been appointed as the chief executive officer of the company, following the end of term of current CEO Akshaya Moondra on August 18.
Kishore will take office from August 19, for a period of three years, Vi said in an exchange filing.
"Mr. Abhijit Kishore has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer and Key Managerial Personnel of the Company for a period of 3 (three) years effective from 19th August, 2025. The appointment is necessitated due to Mr. Akshaya Moondra ceasing to be the Chief Executive Officer upon completion of his term of 3 years, which is ending on close of business hours on 18th August, 2025," Vi said.
Moondra was appointed in August 2022 for a period of three years, replacing Ravinder Takkar as the CEO of the cash-strapped telecom operator.
According to the announcement, Kishore has been associated with the company since March 2015 and has held multiple senior leadership roles within the organisation, both at circle operations and corporate levels.
Prior to his role as the COO, Kishore was heading the enterprise business as the chief enterprise business officer. He has also served as the Circle Business Head for Gujarat and Kerala circles, where he successfully launched the first 4G network in India.
Kishore has over 27 years of experience in the Indian telecom industry, Vi said.
