Abhinav Kashyap claims Salman Khan 'threw utensils' at his brother, alleges Arbaaz didn't want ex-wife Malaika Arora in Munni Badnam Hui

Filmmaker Abhinav Kashyap, known for directing the blockbuster Dabangg, is back in the headlines with a series of fresh claims about Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and his family. Kashyap, who has previously voiced his grievances about alleged interference and credit disputes with Salman and his team, has now opened up about tense moments between Salman and his brother Arbaaz Khan on the sets of the 2010 film.

In a recent interview Bollywood Thikana, the director detailed how Salman reportedly took drastic steps to reduce Arbaaz’s presence in the movie. He revealed that Salman removed a chase sequence featuring Arbaaz, allegedly driven by insecurity and a desire to dominate the spotlight. Abhinav added that Salman would often visit him late at night, around 1:30 am, to oversee scenes and make changes to the film, including cutting portions involving Arbaaz.


Describing the dynamic between the brothers, Kashyap said that their relationship appeared strained. He remarked that while they lived together, there was evident animosity, and he often found their interactions difficult to understand.

According to him, Arbaaz may have questioned Salman privately about the cuts, but the two never argued in front of him, except for one alarming incident. Abhinav Kashyap claimed that during a heated moment, Salman allegedly 'threw utensils at Arbaaz' and warned Kashyap to stay out of the conflict, highlighting the tension that sometimes unfolded on set.

Kashyap also opened up on disagreements regarding the iconic item song Munni Badnaam Hui. He alleged that Arbaaz was uncomfortable with his then-wife, Malaika Arora, performing the song, fearing that its presentation might come across as too bold. However, Kashyap defended his choice, insisting that Malaika had already made her mark in the world of item numbers and deserved the role, much like her stepmother-in-law, the legendary Helen.

They were worried that her presentation would be vulgar because Munni Badnaam Hui was a raunchy song. But I had assured them," he claimed.

At the time of filming, Malaika and Arbaaz were married and shared a son, Arhaan Khan. The couple eventually divorced in 2017, and Arbaaz later married makeup artist Sshura Khan in 2023. The couple recently celebrated the birth of their daughter, Sipaara Khan, on October 5, 2025.
