While Archana Puran Singh became a household name with her stint as a judge on The Kapil Sharma Show, she also developed a huge fan base courtesy of her family vlog channel AAAP Ka Parivaar, where she often appears with her family—husband Parmeet Sethi, sons Aaryamaan and Ayushmaan, and Aaryamaan’s fiancée, actress Yogita Bihani. Their camaraderie and shenanigans have often gone viral, and Archana’s channel has gathered over 991,000 subscribers.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Parmeet explained how vlogging had turned out to be more profitable than TV and films for their family. “If we decide to make this our full-time career, it’ll pay us at least three times more than what films and television together pay us,” he admitted.
He also explained that vlogging, although not bereft of its own risks, offers several benefits, like complete freedom of expression and being able to be their authentic selves in front of the audience. However, he also admitted that vlogging 24X7 meant exposing oneself to people and being vulnerable to trolling.
“You’re offering your entire life for people to see—and that’s not everyone’s cup of tea. You need to be shameless, careless, and fearless to do something like that. People’s reactions can start affecting you,” he said.
He also admitted that YouTube has become something of a life insurance for them. “We are like a life insurance company—YouTube keeps paying us the premium throughout our lives.”
Parmeet is best known for playing Kuljeet, the entitled and arrogant villain in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. The movie, which marked the directorial debut of Aditya Chopra, also starred Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in leading roles. The movie became a box-office phenomenon and has since then become a beloved cult classic. Parmeet has also directed a film, Badmaash Company, starring Shahid Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. The movie was produced by Yash Raj Films.
