Major Action! 1,480 PoP Idols Seized From 2 Places In Indore After Ban On Making And Selling Of Plaster Of Paris Idols

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a strong move to enforce environmental regulations, the district administration seized over 1,480 idols made of Plaster of Paris (PoP) from two locations—Banganga and Manglia area—on Tuesday.

In view of environmental protection and ban imposed on making and selling of idols made from Plaster of Paris (PoP), the district administration took two major actions on Tuesday. Two teams of the district administration led by one each SDM and SDO, altogether PoP made over 1480 idols from four locations seized including two each from Banganga and Mandia area.

Collector Asheesh Singh has imposed a ban on the sale and manufacture of idols made of plaster of Paris (POP) in the district. Despite the ban idols are being made using PoP and the district administration swung into action to stop any such activity.

Over 800 idols seized in Banganga area

In the Banganga area the team lead by Malharganj SDM Nidhi Verma seized more than 130 big sized Ganesh idols and more than 700 small idols from two idol makers.

SDM Verma informed that the action was mainly taken at the place of idol maker Vinod son of Gulabchand in Banganga area. His godown wherein the idols were kept has been sealed.

Similar action was also taken at the places of distributor Khemkaran Chitale and idol maker Manish Prajapati. Most of the idols at Manish Prajapati's place were found to be made of clay.

Only about 10 to 15 idols were found to be made of POP which were seized. Along with this, about 50 POP idols were found in the godown of distributor Khemkaran Chitale. This godown was also sealed.

Action at 2 places in Manglia

In compliance with the prohibitory order the action was taken at two places in Mangalia road area. SDM Sanwer Ghanshyam Dhangar said that more than 700 small and big idols have been seized from these two places. The action was taken against Babulal son of Mangilal Prajapat and Rahul son of Kedar Bhatuniya of Mangalia road area and their warehouses were sealed.. The district administration has announced that action against PoP idols would continue.
