Chris Hemsworth's life from cleaning breast pumps to nearly missing out on Marvel's Thor

Chris Hemsworth stands as one of Hollywood's most famous figures, so it's perfectly natural that admirers are keen to discover everything about the Marvel legend.

Disney+ and National Geographic have joined forces once more for the second instalment of Limitless with Chris Hemsworth embarking on fresh spine-chilling adventures.

The inaugural season centred on methods to extend life whilst this latest series concentrates on enhancing quality of life, from mastering fresh abilities to confronting your greatest terrors.

As Hemsworth makes his comeback to television, let's examine the star's existence away from the spotlight more closely.

Australian performer Chris Hemsworth might currently be recognised for appearing in major box office hits such as the Thor series and Extraction, but he hasn't always enjoyed the most prestigious employment.

When questioned about his most dreadful positions, he openly confessed to Collider: "Cleaning breast pumps.

"I worked for like a pharmacy that would rent out milk extractors, breast pumps, for pregnant women.

"I swear to God I had a toothbrush and a spray, and I would scrub off dried milk off the machines."

The 42-year-old remains most famous for depicting Thor, God of Thunder, in the Avengers series, with the debut film released in 2011.

Whilst he might appear the natural selection, Hemsworth wasn't always assured the role and nearly surrendered it to his sibling Liam Hemsworth from The Hunger Games.

Speaking to Wired, Chris revealed: "I auditioned for Thor many years ago, probably 11 or 12 years ago, and I didn't get a callback. I think my audition sucked.

"And then my younger brother auditioned, and he got very close - he got down to the last five people. And didn't get it.

"They were like, 'Look, he's great, but he's a bit young.'"

Chris' representative then put him forward for the role once more and fortunately, he was offered a second opportunity.

"I came back in, re-auditioned a few times, and just had a different attitude.

"Maybe I had a little more sort of motivation that my little brother got a look in and I hadn't.

"I also had done a couple of films in between those two auditions, so I had a bit more experience and confidence in what I was going to do."

Hemsworth first met his wife, Spanish model and actress Elsa Pataky, in early 2010 via their mutual dialect coach.

Speaking on The Drew Barrymore Show, he recalled how their initial date "set the stage for most of our relationship" as Hemsworth detailed: "She turned up on a motorcycle...and I thought, 'Oh cool, she's adventurous.'

He added: "You want to have similar interests.

"It's interesting and fun to be from completely different walks of life and then there's different things to talk about and different dynamics.

"But having the same interests and the same enthusiasm for the outdoors and sports and so on just keeps it interesting."

Hemsworth and Pataky tied the knot in December 2010 and welcomed their daughter in May 2012 before having their twin sons in March 2014.

It was whilst filming Limitless series one that the star underwent a test revealing he was biologically eight to 10 times more prone to developing Alzheimer's due to carrying two copies of the APOE4 gene.

One in every 50 people inherit two copies of this gene and studies have shown that nearly all double carriers displayed early symptoms of the disease which triggers dementia by age 55.

Speaking to Sky News, Hemsworth revealed: "It was just kind of this point in my life where up until your 40s, you're kind of gathering data and information and it's all reactionary and then you get to a point where you think, oh some of this sort of identity that I've sort of built doesn't hold true anymore.

"There's some inner sort of protest or inner voice that has a deeper need to understand and there's deeper questions and what is the purpose and the why behind what I'm doing ... and what am I seeking, what am I contributing, as opposed to just what I am collecting."

Beyond Limitless series two, the actor has a wealth of other ventures in development.

This encompasses an action film titled Subversion featuring Cinderella star Lily James, Avengers: Doomsday which is currently in production and thriller Crime 101 alongside Mark Ruffalo and Barry Keoghan.

There are also whispers of him featuring in a Transformers and GI Joe crossover, as well as a film titled Prince Charming, where Hemsworth himself would play the iconic fairytale character.

Limitless season two premieres on Friday, August 15, on Disney+.
