GB News was interrupted for a major update following the heartbreaking Huntington mass stabbings, which left nine people with life-threatening injuries and a 32-year-old man arrested and charged with 10 counts of attempted murder. The suspect, who has been named as Anthony Williams, from Peterborough, was also charged with one count of actual bodily harm and one count of possession of a bladed article. Another man was arrested after the incident, but has since been released.
During Monday's (November 3) programming, GB News presenters Tom Harwood and Nana Akua delivered "breaking news," as they went live to Peterborough, where national reporter Charlie Peters revealed: "Cambridgeshire Police say that three knife-related incidents are linked to the Huntington train attack suspect happened on Friday and Saturday." He went on to read a statement from the force, which read: "We are aware of three incidents that occurred in Peterborough on Friday evening and then Saturday evening."
Reading out the statement, Peters continued: "The force said 'the first incident of a man with a knife at a barbers in Fletton happened at 7.25pm on Friday, that was reported to the force after 9pm.'
"'Two hours,' they said after the incident occurred. They continued, 'At the time of reporting, the man was no longer there and had not returned, so we did not send officers, but a crime was raised.'
"The second incident, they said, 'was reported to us as 9.25am on Saturday, again by that barbershop in Fletton while the man was still at the scene.'"
Peters added: "The force said that its officers were deployed to the location and arrived within 18 minutes, but they said that upon searching the area, officers were unable to locate the man or identify him and a crime was raised.
"They then said that there was a third incident that police also believe may be linked, which also happened on Friday, October 31 at 7.10pm, where a 14-year-old was stabbed by a man with a knife in the city centre.
The reporter revealed: "They were taken to Peterborough City hospital with minor injuries and were later discharged.
"They said that 'the offender had left the scene when the call was made, and despite a search of the area, officers and a police dog, the offender was not identified. A crime was reported and an investigation commenced with a series of crime attendings.
"We are currently reviewing, the force said, 'all incidents in the time frame to establish whether there were any further potential offences."
Peters added: "Cambridgeshire Police also reaffirmed that British Transport Police retain that privacy for the overall investigation, which will now include these three potentially-related incidents.'"
