High street giant gives out £10 mystery bundles as it closes 145 stores for good

As the retail giant Claire's Accessories plans to close 145 of its shops across the UK, the chain has launched £10 mystery bundles. It is selling the surprise bags as part of final clearance sales before affected branches shut their doors for good. Once a popular jewellery store, Claire's is now struggling. It entered administration this year, a step that often preempts closures, and has now begun final stock clearances at branches destined for closure.

A Facebook page with bargains shared that one buyer's £10 bag should have been £172.

The post said: "My local Claire's accessories is closing down, everything was 40% off, and they had massive bags of accessories for £10! This was 1 big bag for £10, should have been £172!"

Part of the brand was saved by the investment company Modella Capital, which acquired 156 branches in August, keeping approximately 1,000 positions across the rescued locations.

However, 145 outlets remained outside the rescue package and now face definitive closure. The 145 branches excluded from Modella's acquisition will close in the coming weeks, though specific closure dates differ between locations.

Joe Price, Modella's managing director, stated: "As a firm, we strongly believe that this much-loved brand deserves the chance to remain on the High Street in the UK and Ireland.

"The issues that Claire's is facing are significant, and we will need to work collaboratively with all interested parties if our proposed rescue plan is to succeed."
