Prince George will likely have to undergo military training "whether he likes it or not", an expert has claimed. The 12-year-old, who will enter his teenage years next July, has now begun his final year at Lambrook School in Berkshire.
Although George's future is set to see him become monarch, his immediate path after his current school is unclear. Asked whether a royal not going into higher education is frowned upon, former royal butler Grant Harrold has said the young royal may choose not go to university - but added that there is one thing that George will likely be required to learn.
Mr Harrold said: "We may find that George, Charlotte, and Louis might not all go to university. They may go straight to somewhere like Sandhurst."
Speaking on behalf of Study Dog, he added: "In particular, George, as it is seen as vital for future Kings to have had some sort of military training, so you can guarantee that George, whether he likes it or not, will have to go through that military training."
Discussing the idea of military training, Mr Harrold points out that this path was followed by many other male royals - including George's dad and grandfather.
Prince Harry also underwent military training, as well as the late Queen's husband, and George's great-grandfather, Prince Philip.
The former royal butler said: "Both William and Charles had military training. You're the commanding chief of the Armed Forces, so you've got to know the profession. However, there might not be so much pressure when it comes to George. Only time will tell."

It was reported last month that George has been allocated a house at Eton College ahead of his rumoured big move to the boarding school next year.
As well as Eton College, Princess Kate's former school Marlborough College is also under consideration for the young royal.
It is believed William enjoyed his time at Eton, with Harry also having previously shared his own memories of his time at the school.
