Aaron Judge is back. On Tuesday night, August 6, 2025, New York Yankees star Aaron Judge played as a designated hitter after being out for 10 days with a flexor strain in his right elbow. The Yankees faced the Texas Rangers at Yankee Stadium in New York. Aaron Judge batted third but went 0 for 3 in a game the Yankees lost 2-0. He did not play in the outfield, and there is still no exact date for his return to defense. The team wants to be careful with his elbow. Aaron Judge was added to the injured list after an MRI scan showed no major damage to his ulnar collateral ligament, and he had a platelet-rich plasma injection on July 27. The Yankees have not said when he will fully return, but for now, he is only hitting.

Aaron Judge to start throwing program , says team needs ‘all the big boys’

Aaron Judge will begin a throwing program on Wednesday, August 7, as announced by Yankees manager Aaron Boone. Speaking to The Associated Press, Boone said they’ll watch how the first day goes before planning further. “I don’t want to get ahead of myself,” Boone said. “We’ll probably know more after a day or two.”

Aaron Judge also spoke after the Tuesday night game and said , “No idea. But we’ll see how it goes tomorrow, and hopefully I can get out there. Because we need all the big boys in the lineup.”

Before returning to New York, Aaron Judge had been at the Yankees’ training facility in Tampa, Florida. While there, he did batting practice and other workouts, but didn’t throw. “He’s been pretty upbeat,” Boone said. “He didn’t throw, but he got ready for it.”

With a .339 batting average, Aaron Judge is still top of the majors even if he missed games. With 37 home runs, he is tied for fourth place and has 85 RBIs, which is fifth-best in the league.

Aaron Judge said, “We’ve got some work to do. A lot of things to clean up… some mental mistakes, some physical mistakes. But the boys are fired up to get it right.”
