Google India has introduced a dedicated Elder Care Program to support employees managing the dual responsibilities of career advancement and caring for aging family members, addressing a critical need in India's changing demographic landscape. The initiative provides comprehensive support across three key areas: emotional wellbeing , physical health, and safety services.

"At Google India, our employees are empowered to bring their best selves to work, innovate, and thrive when they feel secure about their family's well-being," said Shraddhanjali Rao , Head of HR at Google India, in announcing the program on LinkedIn.

The emotional wellbeing component focuses on combating isolation through online engagement platforms, personalised assistance services, support groups, and regular wellness check-in calls.

"With India's evolving demographics, the responsibility of caring for our elders is an increasing reality for many," Rao noted, emphasizing the personal nature of this challenge. "Caring for an elderly loved one while balancing a demanding career is a profound act of commitment."

Physical wellbeing services include proactive full-body health screenings, accessible telemedicine consultations with doctors, quarterly in-home visits, and access to vetted home care professionals .

Safety support features round-the-clock emergency coordination, immediate access to on-call physicians, ambulance evacuation services, and virtual home safety consultations to make living spaces more elder-friendly.

"The Google Elder Care Program reinforces our commitment towards fostering a supportive, and empathetic culture that truly understands and responds to the multifaceted lives of our employees," she concluded.
