FARIDABAD: A day after nearly 2,900kg of explosive and inflammable materials were seized from Faridabad’s Dhauj area, police on Tuesday launched an extensive combing and search operation involving over 800 personnel across multiple locations under the jurisdiction of the Dhauj police station.
Investigators are probing whether the laboratory facilities at Al-Falah University were used to synthesise RDX or other advanced explosives.
The operation stems from the arrest of Dr Muzamil Shakeel, a Kashmiri medical professor teaching at the university, whose rented accommodation near the campus yielded explosives, detonators, batteries, timers, and weapons, including an AK-56 rifle and a Krinkov.
Police said the massive haul — the largest in recent years — points to preparations for a potential large-scale terror plot. Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta said teams are working to trace suppliers, identify accomplices, and verify whether university labs were misused for bomb-making.
